About the session
Writing is an essential yet complex and multidimensional form of communication that is not biologically innate.
Writing needs to be taught. In this seminar, Dr Tessa Daffern explores how educators can effectively support adult learners in develping their writing skills. In the session, we will consider:
- Why learning to write matters
- How writing and reading are interconnected as multidimensional constructs
- A cognitive model of writing
- Features of effective writing
- How to implement an instructional routine that supports adults learning to write
- Strategies for explicitly teaching the process and component skills of writing.
