UN Commission on the Status of Women

Elaine Butler, the convenor of Women in Adult and Vocational Education has been chosen as one of three women to represent Australian women at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The major theme for 2011 is: Access and participation of women and girls to education, training, science and technology, including for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work.

If any ALA members or their students would be interested in following the UN progress + work of the delegation, the 3 community sector delegates have set up a facebook page to communicate and allow input with the wider community while we’re working in NY (from 21/2/11) – all welcome.

Details for this face book page are:  ‘Australian CSW 55 delegates’ :- http://www.facebook.com/pages/Australian-CSW-55-Delegation/148164918575770

Elaine will also be posting on WAVEs facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/WAVE-Women-Girls-Education-Training-in-Australia/142859425735889
