Would you or someone you know like to be part of a book about adult learning in Australia?
Adult and lifelong learning can have a profound impact on how people participate in meaningful work, engage with their community and manage their health and personal wellbeing.
Adult Learning Australia (ALA) is currently researching and writing a book about the diverse areas of adult learning from literacy to Indigenous education to later-life learning.
The aim of the book is to tell some of the personal stories that illustrate the importance of adult and community education and its impact on people’s lives. It will show adult education in action using best practice examples from on the ground.
The book will feature interviews with adult learners from all Australian states accompanied by professional photography and design.
As well as being available for general readers, the book will become an advocacy tool for policy makers and funding bodies and a valuable resource for the sector.
ALA Writer, Ilka Tampke, will be developing the project and conducting the interviews in May/June 2012. If you or somebody you know has an interesting story to share about your experiences as an adult learner and effect it has had on your life, we would love to hear from you.
