Lifelong learning for
a fairer Australia

2012 ALA Conference in Byron Bay

The 52nd annual ALA conference will be held in NSW’s stunning Byron Bay on the 11th and 12th October 2012.

This year’s conference theme is Lifelong Learning Equals Resilient Communities.

The theme will explore how lifelong learning can be used to build resilient communities, specifically focusing on creating communities that:

  • have high civic participation
  • have strong economic development
  • adapt to  the impacts of climate change and work together to prevent further environmental damage
  • value all people including Indigenous Australians.

The conference will be hosted by Byron Region Community College, the 2011 winners of the national Adult Learning Innovative Program Award.

As well as being blessed with an enviable location, Byron College is renowned for its innovative work in the development of programs for individuals, industries and communities in sustainability.
