Join us for this special webinar following the release of Adult Learning Australia’s special issue of the Australian Journal of Adult Learning (AJAL) in December 2025.
This session will delve into the diverse movements shaping creative pedagogies in adult education today. It will explore how creative arts education processes are being defined and enacted across adult learning programs, community-based initiatives and social change movements, and highlight the transformative potential of creativity in learning and practice.
Special Issue Editors and Facilitators

Rob Townsend
Professor of Social Work and Academic Dean at Alliance Higher Education Institute (AHEI) and research director of Naturally Gifted Research & Associates, Victoria, Australia. AASW Accreditation Council Member, ANZSWWER Member, International Academic Forum Member, The Learner Academic Research Community Member. Research interests include adult education, ethnographies of communities, autoethnographies, grounded theory, critical social theories, diversity in urban and regional communities, adult transitions through the life course, trauma-informed community practices, social and human capital development, animal, and arts-based therapies. Rob is also a former ALA Board member.

Jeffrey Bryant Jones
Jeffrey is the Artistic Director, Community Educator (drama) and Drama Therapist at Hobo Playhouse, Australia. Jeff loves sharing his passion for acting with marginalised members of the community including seniors and people living with dementia to assist them with personal development and empowerment and to improve their quality of life.
