ALA Webinar: LLN for volunteer tutors

VolunteerSupporting learners with low literacy is complex. It is not about using one simple approach or method. It is about working with enthusiasm, building relationships and having a handy toolkit of techniques, strategies and resources.

This webinar is designed to support volunteer literacy tutors by providing effective strategies to enable LLN learners.

 

About the presenter:

Merv Gardner has been President of the Caboolture Community Adult Literacy Group since 1999 and President of the Lifelong Learning Council of Queensland for 2012 and 2015. He was the Queensland community representative on the National Foundation Skills Champions Network and the National Foundation Skills Community of Practice 2014-2015.

Over the years, Merv has assisted many organisations apply for Community Literacy Program funding and worked with them to train coordinators and groups of volunteers to enable them to manage and run their own adult literacy programs for their own participant groups. Neighbourhood Centres, church organisations, disability organisations, regional organisations, Indigenous and multi-cultural organisations have been assisted.
