Time to Reboot explores the new digital gender divide. It shows how the algorithms favoured by Big Tech, designed to respond to and reinforce group characteristics, are dramatically recasting our relationships and our personal values.
Carla Wilshire OAM
Carla Wilshire OAM is the founding CEO of The Social Policy Group (SPG) and a published author. Carla’s background is in public policy development and impact strategy, corporate governance, and tertiary research.
Before establishing SPG, Carla worked in senior roles in the public service and as an advisor to the Government, principally in migration and settlement, including as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. She also held academic and consulting positions in Australia and abroad.
Carla is the co-founder and Deputy Chair of the Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership and the Judicial Council on Diversity & Inclusion, as well as a member of the Council of Harmony Alliance, the national migrant and refugee women’s alliance. She is the former Deputy Chair of Football Australia and Board Director of The Australian Centre for Social Innovation.
Carla is a technology and society expert. She is the author of ‘Time to Reboot: Feminism in the Algorithm Age” and has been published on the topic of technology in Australian media.

Annette is a Professor of Adult and Vocational Education at Federation University Australia. She has worked for over 30 years as an adult educator in TAFE, higher education, adult community education, and the private training sector. Before Annette commenced her academic role at FedUni
she had first-hand experience as a TAFE manager and CEO in a VET/ACE and youth services organisation, where she worked in a regional community and liaised with industry, community and local government agencies to develop education and training programs for youth and older learners.
